Real Needs

“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” –Luke 11:9 (KJV)

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 (KJV)

So many times, we use verses like these to ask about physical things–a new computer, a digital camera, a better job and the list goes on and on.

But how often do you take the time to pray for other needs and wants? Like your emotional and spiritual needs? (more…)

I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: Psalms 71:16a (KJV)

Dear Lord, if me You send, into some small town, I will go.

Dear Lord if me You send, into the jungles of Africa, I will go.

Dear Lord, if me You send to my neighbor down the street, I will go.

Dear Lord if me You do not send, in a small town, the jungle, or to my neighbor, then right here I will stand.

Dear Lord, if me You do not send, then right here I will stand, awaiting Your gentle voice, Your quiet guidance.

Pray Without Ceasing

“Pray without ceasing.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17

When I seek to pray throughout my day I notice a difference–in myself. My words are sweeter. I’m slower to anger and judgement. I’m kinder.

I use to think that “pray without ceasing” stuff was meant for the “super spiritual”. But lately, I’ve found that being “super spiritual” isn’t one of the requirements.

First and Last

and the last to frown,

I want to be first to speak Your name,
and the last to be silent,

Issues of the Heart

“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart;” ~ Matthew 15:18

We’re often tempted to think how we speak doesn’t matter, but it does! According to Jesus, the way we speak portrays our hearts.

How do you speak? Purely? Compassionately? Or with anger and hate?

It seems to go without saying that if we think pure thoughts, we will speak purely. If we think kind thoughts, then we will say kind things.

Get away from everything and spend some time with God today. Ask Him what does your heart REALLY look like? Examine how you’ve been speaking to those in your life (whether they be friends, parents, or siblings). Have your words been right? Have they been pure? Or compassionate?

If your words aren’t honoring God, ask God to forgive you and help you make a sincere change!

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy;” ~ Psalms 16:11a

Going your own direction and getting nowhere? Tired of walking in circles? Or having a “casual relationship” with God?

Then I invite you to join me in following Jesus! I’ve found He’s the only TRUE path to a joyful life. He’s the only One who’s footsteps do not falter. He’s the only One who will not lead you astray!

Today, take a moment and ask God to direct your “steps”!
