Real Needs

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 (KJV)

So many times, we use verses like these to ask about physical things–a new computer, a digital camera, a better job and the list goes on and on.

I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: Psalms 71:16a (KJV)

Dear Lord, if me You send, into some small town, I will go.

Dear Lord if me You send, into the jungles of Africa, I will go.

Dear Lord, if me You send to my neighbor down the street, I will go.

Dear Lord if me You do not send, in a small town, the jungle, or to my neighbor, then right here I will stand.

Dear Lord, if me You do not send, then right here I will stand, awaiting Your gentle voice, Your quiet guidance.

Pray Without Ceasing

“Pray without ceasing.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17

When I seek to pray throughout my day I notice a difference–in myself. My words are sweeter. I’m slower to anger and judgement. I’m kinder.

I use to think that “pray without ceasing” stuff was meant for the “super spiritual”. But lately, I’ve found that being “super spiritual” isn’t one of the requirements.

First and Last

I want to be first to lend a helping hand,
and the last to point a finger in blame,

I want to be first to encourage,
and the last to spread rumors,

last to hold a grudge,

I want to be first to speak Your name,
and the last to be silent,

I want to be first to love this hurting world,
and the very last to pass judgement!

Pour Out Your Heart

“…ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us.” ~ Psalms 62:8

Verses like this one that I found tonight make me think that the Bible was written just for me. A beautiful letter composed by the King of Kings just for me.Remember when I posted on honoring God on this journey a couple of weeks ago? Somehow, I thought that honoring God meant bearing this huge burden alone. You know “toughing it out”…
Yet He met me tonight to show me that it’s OK to be weak. It’s OK to feel sad about this move.

Pour out your heart before Him.

I read these words and found myself relieved. Standing in His presence, I handed over the burdens that weren’t supposed to be mine…and felt better than I had in weeks. I STILL want to honor Him on this journey but I’ve realized there’s a fine line between honoring God and trying to be God.
