A Letter From God
by Elizabeth Wright, Guest RTF Writer
When I got my first job, I thought I was just going to work at a daycare. I was
wrong: I was entering a mission field. I became overwhelmed with the need I saw all around me. “I can help them,” I thought. “I can make it better.”
Determined to make a difference, I plunged in headfirst. I prayed for them, passed out invitations to church, and offered my help whenever I could. Sheer enthusiasm carried me through the first couple months. (more…)

“Giver of Strength”
“It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.” Psalm 18:32 KJV
At the daycare where I work, there is a little boy that has inadvertently helped me in my spiritual walk. I love this child. He is two years old, generally dirty, and BAD. (I say that with all the love in my heart.J) But one day, it was precisely that disobedience that shook me up and taught me a lesson.
First off, let me explain that I have always had this weird fear of death. Even though I know where I am going, it is death itself that I fear. It has always caused me to doubt myself. I have heard stories of people doing brave deeds, risking their own life, and wondered if I could do the same. I feared I couldn’t. “God will give you the strength’, I always heard. “You don’t even think about,” said others. I doubted the truth of both statements. God had to show me Himself. (more…)

Psalm 51:10-12
Baked Clay
By Maggie Johnson

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: I will give you a new heart and put anew spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 37:26 (NIV)
When you were little, did you ever play with toy clay? My three brothers and I were constantly making sandwiches and people with the squishy stuff. One year we even made clay nativity sets for our family Christmas. The very last step of our creation was to bake the clay; otherwise, baby Jesus would fall apart. When we baked the clay, it got so hard that the only possible way to break it was to jump on it. And, believe me, we tried a few times.

God’s Fireworks
by Marissa Rule
Psalm 18:28 - For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
In Alaska, if y
ou gaze up at the sky, you’ll see the miraculous beams of the Northern lights descending from the very hand of God. It is a wonder to think that our God has given the people of Alaska such a unique display of lights, like fireworks in the darkness. God shows us His ultimate power by these breathtaking streaks of light that He has placed in the sky. Our awesome God has placed every thing where it should be.

Heroism
by Richie Buck

Say you’re walking down the street with someone you care about a lot. As you pass a dark alley that smells like your little brothers closet, a man jumps out at you and tells you that he will kill one of you but let the other one go. Would you stand back and let your friend be killed? Or would you say to him,”Kill me. Let her go.”
During the past few years, we’ve seen a lot of acts of heroism around the world. But what is heroism from a Christian perspective? Especially to a Christian guy since every guy’s greatest desire is to be a hero. The Bible has a lot to say on heroism throughout the Old Testament and the New.

From RTF: One of my favorite blogs is Agent Tim Online. He’s a guy who has attracted a lot of attention because he’s a teen — and he’s speaking out on faith. He’s even got his own podcast and it’s amazing.
This is Tim’s take on humility (printed with Tim’s permission).
Humility - Not Normal
Humility isn’t something that comes naturally for anyone, although it certainly does seem to be easier for others to display. I am certainly not one of those lucky few. In fact as I sat down this morning to read Growing Up Christian I took at small test to see where I stood and ended up right where I thought I was - right in the middle, still growing in humility. Some might see themselves as hypocritical - I see it as still growing in humility. (more…)

Go”.
It seems like a simple command. All a person has to do is pick up one foot and put it in front the other. As a child, I promised God I would do this. That my life was His. That whatever He wanted me to do — wherever He wanted me to go — I would follow.
I didn’t know that would involve staying in bed.
Just after my 10th birthday, I awoke with a sore throat. I thought after a few days I’d get better, but a week went by and I still felt like I had the flu. (On a funny note: my dad once called one of his friends on the telephone, and an exchange student answered. “Hello?” my dad asked, “Can I talk with Bob?” “I am sorry,” the exchange student said, “but he is in bed with the fly and he cannot get up.”)So basically, I was “in bed with the fly” for the better part of 11 years.
