Real Article and Event: Kingdom Bound, 2007

Excerpt from article from The Buffalo News: Entertainment, July, 2007

The faithful will fill Darien Lake next weekend for the Christian music festival

By Molly Hirschbeck

Devout teens cheer on Christian bands and speakers at last year’s music festival.

If you’ve ever wondered what divine intervention looks like, events starting next Sunday at Darien Lake can show you. Thats when the amusement park will become a slice of heaven on earth.RVs, tents and trucks will consume the area, turning the park’s campgrounds into a small city. More than 20,000 people are expected to willingly make the small space their home for four days, during which another 45,000 will bus in.

This is Kingdom Bound. For the past 20 years, Kingdom Bound Ministries has made a name for itself with its annual Christian music festival. The event celebrates the fundamental messages of faith by bringing together music artists who promote the teachings of Christianity. This year the event playbill boasts more than 50 bands and spiritual speakers, with acts ranging from swing and blues to pop-rock and rap. Still, one wonders: What is it that draws so many people? Real Article: I Hated Christianity - Musical Artist Jonny Lang

I Hated Christianity
Christian Music Today.com, 9/25/06
by musical artist Sara Grove, about musical artist Jonny Lang

Excerpt: The first time I saw Jonny Lang, he was a 15-year-old kid, perched on a stool, his hair in his eyes—and playing his guitar and singing like he’d sold his soul to the devil. He was an irrefutable talent, and quickly became a young legend in the world of the blues and beyond, touring with The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and Sting, among others.

I didn’t see Lang again till a few years ago when my husband Troy and I were watching The Late Show with David Letterman, and Lang was the music guest. When he took the stage that night, he was a very different guy we’d seen years before. As he sang, Troy and I looked at each other and said, “What happened to him?” (more…)

Taking Light Into Dark Places
How P.O.D. shocked a shock jock
by Mark Moring

No Nonsense: P.O.D. was live on the radio with controversial talk-show host Howard Stern when they completely shocked the notorious shock jock. Stern couldn’t believe his ears. The guys in the band had just said, no, they don’t sleep around with groupies.

~Real Quote~

We go into each album on our knees, and pray that God would do something awesome with it,” Sonny says. “It’s just the P.O.D. way to always intertwine our music with the hope we have in Christ. We encourage people to scream their faith from the rooftops. Whatever you’re going through in your own life, God is the same, regardless. That’s what we’re testifying about. God is good always.”
