I sat outside of the church auditorium with a friend.
You could read the uncertainty in her eyes. She was weighing the cost of following Christ, afraid to trade her life for what God had to offer. “Not right now, maybe later. I still have things I want to do,” was all she could reply.
Few weeks later, I lost contact with her. My family moved, her e-mail address didn’t work anymore, and no one knew how to get a hold of her.
Life is short. Yet so many people think that giving up their “life” to Christ will somehow keep them from having fun. And so, they decide to turn away. They decide to wait until “later” to give their lives to God. The only problem is that we are not promised another chance to accept Him.
If I could have just one more chance to talk with my friend, there’s one message I’d like to tell her… Christ promises us a life beyond our expectations! When we give our life, our desires, our selfishness to Him, we gain more than what this world could ever offer us! We gain a real life, one that fulfills and completes us.
I John 5:11-12 says that, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
This verse says it so beautifully! We don’t really know what life is until we give our time here on this earth to the Maker of Life! Without Christ, our life is nothing. With Christ, we have a life that is complete and meaningful.
The point of this devotional is to reach all those who are still waiting for a better time to give their life to Christ… I may never be able to talk to my friend again, but I can say this, the time to ask Christ into your heart is now! Christ can give you the fulfilled life you are seeking! He’s the only way that you can truly “live”!
Get a life. You only live once, make it count.
