Do your best, prepare for the worst– then trust GOD to bring victory. Proverbs 21:31
I’m sitting in a cold, dark room. Outside it’s brilliant. Ice, like diamonds, drips from the trees. Tomorrow I’m supposed to fly to Chicago to speak to parents of teens. Right now it seems impossible. If I can make the 70 mile drive to the airport, it will be on slick and dangerous roads. If I can drive the roads, I will be disheveled and without things like straightening irons and blowdryers to make me presentable. If I do arrive, grungy, I will stand in front of a crowd and minister.
And yet I know it’s going to be okay. I’m not big enough to make everything fall into place. I can’t make the freezing rain stop (thought Elijah did!). I can’t whisk a wand and, like Cinderella, be transformed.
But I can trust God. This is His deal, not mine. The audience that waits is on His heart. He knows the needs. He knows what I can or can’t do, and will show me the next step.
So I will prepare the best I can. I will pray over the needs of the audience. I will study my notes. I will pack. I will prepare the car for safe road travel. What happens after that has to be in God’s hands.
Have you ever took on a task, and it seemed so challenging that you felt weighed down? Maybe, like me, you just need to acknowledge that He’s the Boss. We are partners with God, hearing His voice, following Christ daily, but in the end it’s all His anyway, even the carrying the weight of the job.
So, in my cold house I invite the warm presence of God to join me. I will listen to my MP3 player and worship Him as I study His Word.
What happens tomorrow is up to Him. He’s the Creator.
I’ll let you know…

I’m sitting here at school during free period and thinking…I’m in a stressful time of my life and I just really needed a devotion to read, just something, anything to get my mind focused on God. I googled teen devotions and this site came up. I found this page and started reading…the first thing that touched my heart was the verse because it applies so directly to my life… I don’t understand everything that’s going on…but I do know that I trust in God, and I am confident in Him! Reading this devotion helped me focus on that a little more and it was truly a blessing to read. I thank God for people such as you who are so willing to trust and follow His ways. If anything, know that by letting God speak through you, that it has touched at least one heart today…mine.
