Take it all
For Mr. Tracy, by Judi Weiss, RTF Staff Writer
Trust in the Lord. It sounds easy enough. Especially when everything is going good. The road is even. But what about when a crisis comes your way?
My youth minister, Mr. Tracy, was diagnosed with Hodgkinʼs Lymphoma, known as Hodgkinʼs Disease, in June of 2007. Hodgkinʼs Lymphoma is a cancer of the immune system. A type of cell called the Reed-Sternberg cell is what marks it.
He began seven months of Chemotherapy then a month of radiation. After the treatment, he received what heʼd been waiting for, the clean bill of health.
This past September, the small family was hit with another crisis. The cancer had returned. With his wife Robin behind him, Mr. Tracy began his one month of radiation for the second time.
I come to church every Sunday to see Miss. Robin standing in the entrance of our youth building. She stands at the desk, greeting every teenager with a smile. Her courage is beyond me. The trust that they have put in God is incredible. When I think about trust, I think of Mr. Tracy and his wife. The faith that they show me every Sunday is the kind of faith that I want to put in God. That kind of trust.
Last Sunday, October 19th, Mr. Tracy came to the Sunday night high school service. The high school worship team played one of his new favorite songs, “Take it all” by Hillsongs United. When the song began, he told everyone that the song was a lot of fun and just made him want to jump and bounce around. He went around the room, bouncing until every person there was doing the same. You couldnʼt help but smile when he jumped around like a teenager again.
Our youth group would be nothing without Mr. Tracy and Miss. Robin. My youth minister is always there. He doesnʼt let Hodgkinʼs Disease slow him down. Even on days when everyone knows heʼd rather be at home, heʼs there. Showing us all the faith and trust he has put in God.
This story was written and printed with permission from Miss. Robin.
