What can one teen do? They can publish books! Lydia Rule, RTF Staff writer has signed a contract for her new book, Devo’s on the Go. Her desire is to change the world through her writing.
She’s looking for a few more devos to add to the book. Here’s what Lydia had to say about this project.
Hey Everyone…
I have a book coming out called Devo’s-on-the-Go! My publisher, Power Publishing, is looking for some writers to add short vignettes/couple of paragraphs into my devotional book. The book is based on a fast-food theme… speedy devotions delivered each day! The book’s target audience are teens and college-aged students who have a hard time fitting a daily devo time into their busy schedule.
I need at least 12 vignettes.
Vignette Definition: At least two Word document paragraphs double spaced in Times New Roman 12pt. Longer is fine. Use first person, true-life story format. Just share your heart with the other teenagers and college aged students who will read the book!
The book has six major devotional sections, and I need two vignettes per devotional section. Below are the five devotional sections and a brief description of what each vignette’s theme should be about:
Section One: Megabite Meal
Need two vignettes about how reading God’s word spiritually makes you stronger, more mighty! J
Theme ideas for your vignette: Maybe you’ve had a situation where reading the Bible and praying has helped you to be stronger in dealing with that particular problem. By writing a short devo/blurb/vignette, you will be helping other teens who may be dealing with the same issue and just need some encouragement to find the answer to their problem in God’s word.
Section Two: Prayers-up Soft Drinks
Need two vignettes about being thirsty for more of God!
Theme ideas: There’s a verse in the Bible that says, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God (Psalm 42:1).” Has there been a time in your life where you felt spiritually dried up? How did God’s word refresh your soul?
Section Three: I-Scream
Need two vignettes about all out stress and frustration!
Theme ideas: I-Scream is all about when you can’t take life’s pressures anymore! How has God helped you through life’s stress? When you feel like you can’t go on or take it anymore, how has God given you strength?
Section Four: Break-Fast Dishes
Need two vignettes about when everything in your life seems to fall apart.
Theme Ideas: Break-fast is when you feel like breaking into pieces. How has God helped you put those pieces back together?
Section Five: Appetizers
Need two vignettes about how to have a spiritual appetite for more of God’s word!
Theme Ideas: What are some ways that you have found help keep you on track with God?
Section Six: Condiments
Need two vignettes about how to “top” off your day with God.
Theme Ideas: What is the advantage to spending time every day with God, even if it’s just a little bit each day? How has it helped you in the past? In the present?

Remember this girl’s name folks. You’ll see her climbing best-seller charts someday. It’s only a matter of time.
