I received an e-mail from a teen recently who shared a link to her MySpace. She had cool pics of her recent marriage. She is 17. Her question: how can I know if he is my soul mate?
We talked privately, and it is clear that the road ahead is going to be tougher than she realized. Love suddenly looked less romantic when she woke up the next week. She said she didn’t mind if we posted her question and my answer, but I found a great article that says it all.
TrueU.org is a great site and the article, Soul Mates or Sole Mate, is packed with wisdom. It’s long, but worth printing out and reading over and over again, especially when that girl or guy is hot, makes you feel all warm inside, and you’re ready to take the plunge into a deep, and maybe-lasting-maybe-not, but-it-feels-so-right relationship.
Seriously.
Real Quote: Instead of following Plato in a wild pursuit of our soul mate, we should seek to find a biblical “sole mate.” A sole mate is someone who walks with us as together we apply biblical love. ~ Gary Thomas, author of article, Soul Mates or Sole Mate, TrueU.org, April, 2008.
