Double Trouble
by Lydia Rule, RTF Staff Writer
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
James 1:8 (King James Version)
I read a recent news article about a two-headed baby turtle. I was fascinated by the pictures that went along with the article. The turtle’s heads were on opposing ends, which would be quite interesting if each head decided to go straight— a “tug of war” would ensue.
This phenomenon reminded me of how Christians often act towards God. We want to follow where Christ leads us. Yet we also want to go our own way. At first, this “double-minded” struggle starts off small. But it doesn’t stay small for long as we develop a two-headed approach towards God.
We find ourselves in a tug of war, going nowhere except in circles. James says that a “double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” We have to learn to give control to God before we can have clear direction in our lives.
Prayer: God, I want to surrender my will to you. Keep me focused on your Cross. Show me the areas of my life that I have been keeping back from you. Amen.

Thanks for sharing your picture of the turtle. I had heard about it, but had never seen any pictures. There was a cartoon called cat-dog and it was the same type of predicament with them. It may still be on TV! I really enjoy reading your thoughts daily. Thanks,Cindi

I love this devo, Lydia.
