Suzie: Hi Jeanette, Thanks for joining us at RTF. First, tell us when you knew you wanted to be a writer. . .
Jeanette: When I was in 6th grade I read Anne Frank’s diary for the first time and wanted to BE her (well, minus the dying in a concentration camp part). (more…)

We see all types of medical procedures on TV. On Grey’s Anatomy they open hearts and separate cojoined twins. On ER they perform brain surgery.
Just last week on Extreme Makeover they show a women’s jaw being pried apart and then reset.
No details spared.
But I’ve never seen an abortion on TV, and I wonder why. Pro-choice advocates say that abortion, especially in the earlier months, is a simple medical procedure. (more…)

Generation of Faith
By Lydia Rule, RTF Staff Writer
We were all gathered around in a little camper out in the middle of a state park. Between my grandparents, parents, and two sisters, we were all pretty squished. As is our tradition, we took out the Bible and began to read. Then, we each took turns praying.
I didn’t think anything of it. After all, this is something that my family does every night.
But then it hit me. Three generations of my family were gathered together in worship, and here I was, just thinking that this was an ordinary event. I had been taking for granted what had taken years to build.

I am going on 16, and made a regrettable choice to give myself to my boyfriend two years ago. Although this is something I cannot take back, I have talked with my youth pastor about regaining my spiritual purity through Jesus. But I’ve never told my parents about this. I know that I never got any STD’s and I didn’t get pregnant, but it’s really hurtful to me having to lie to my mother nearly everyday.
We talk about sex openly and I have no difficulty lying about it. I told her recently that I was going to wait until marriage. In my heart, I feel that I will be waiting for marriage. But I know that if I tell her that our relationship will never be the same. I don’t think she could ever forgive me. Am I a terrible person to keep deceiving her, even though it’s better for both of us? - Alie (more…)

Worth Waiting For
by Jenn Joshua, RTF Staff Writer
Make me worth waiting for,
Lord, let me deserve my man
And whether I be rich or poor,
Give me strength of hands
I ask you for a smiling face
Pleasant as I grow old
I don’t ask for beauty outside
But for a heart of gold
Help my head be high,
And my thoughts be pure,
Give me peace of mind
And cleanliness of soul
