I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Josh Harris
Review by Rachel MôK, RTF Staff Writer
I first read this book when I was 14 years old, well most people think I was weird, why? Because that is THE AGE when “dating” in High School is cool, apparently its the “in” thing. I mean why would a 14-year-old girl be thinking about a long term commitment, in other words marriage. All she would think is, “oh that guy is cute, I think I like him.”
Sadly, high school flings are getting more common these days, in fact I use to think that
was alright, part of teenage life and growing up, but I have changed that mind-set.
Anyway, since I don’t remember much about it, I decided to read the book again, the impact that the book had on me and convictions I got now compared to four years ago is so much more. Well, now that I have established that SINGLENESS is a gift, I feel more convicted and secure. I don’t know if you have ever been through a situation when you look around you and all your good friends are attached. Everyone looks so happy and you wished you had someone there for you too. But hey, singleness is a gift if you haven’t
already realised for many reasons-read the book to find out! HA!
It is impossible to pen down everything I have learned in the book, because its
JUST TOO MUCH! So I recommand everyone to read it.
It’s worth your time!
I have made one personal conviction after I read the book: “I want to stay focused on God. Until the right man comes along, I refuse to feed romantic expectations and let my heart get carried away.” So why throw myself into so much trouble (temptations) by indulging myself in dramas and dream about what hollywood portrays of relationships instead of following God’s standards of relationship.
Recently I also listened to one of his sermons, and if I remembered clearly, it talked about God’s model for relationships has two categories - singleness and marriage. But the world inserted a new category called short term relationships (for the sake of enjoying romance
without being fully committed).
Well…so what kind of relationship/love do you and I want? The world’s or God’s model? Quite obviously I choose God’s.
God Bless,

I love this book! It is really amazing. And, it’s written in such a way that keeps your attention.
Josh McDowell has also written “Boy meets Girl”, another really great book.
