for the country of Bhutan. This country was isolated from the outside world until the communist takeover of China in 1949.

All public worship and evangelism by non-Buddhists is illegal in Bhutan. When a Bhutanese is discovered to be a Christian, they are denied government benefits including education. Christians have been fired from their jobs and some expelled from their country. Two Christian evangelists (people who teach about Christianity) were arrested after showing the JESUS film to a woman and her neighbors. They were in prison for 6 months without trial and finally received sentences for three years.
