Real Link: Free to be me

Free to be me

Free to Be Me is a compassionate, insightful site for any teen who struggles with questions about homosexuality, or those who are gay or lesbian seeking to find a different path.

Great information for teens (or moms or dads or youthworkers who love a teen who is asking questions about sexuality). Real questions, stories, and a forum where a teen can talk with others. Free To Be me is supported by Exodus Youth, a Christian organization.

Note from Suzie: I have someone in my extended family that I love who is gay. I don’t mention his name, not out of embarrassment, but for his privacy. I always pray that when he meets a believer that he’ll see love and compassion in their response to him as a human being.

Do I believe that being gay is okay? I believe in scripture and that homosexuality is one of many sins that can separate us from God. But I don’t believe that it is bigger than the sin God forgave in my life.

When I share a link like Free to Be Me, I often am criticized by both sides.

A gay or lesbian teen is offended that I offer these links.

A believer wants to know why I’m not condemning homosexuality.

It’s not my job to condemn sin, but to point teens to a cross where they can find forgiveness and new life. I see this in Christ’s example when he asked the accusers to put down their stones (John 8:1-11), and then he offered a woman hope.

How cool is that?

Sometimes there are real issues and real challenges, even after a person decides to follow Christ, and teens are seeking help and resources to know what to do, and how to grow.

So you won’t ever find RTF among those holding condemning signs, but hopefully pointing to a relationship with Christ that will offer a life-changing encounter.

At the same time, RTF will offer resources and links for those who are seeking answers for a myriad of issues offering direction to a stronger faith-filled and overcoming life, no matter what the challenge.

WAY TO GO, SUZIE!!! I came from a horrible church situation and there was SO MUCH condemnation for the anyone who was gay or lesbian. It makes me mad to see people codemn gays when God clearly states that ALL of our sins are equal! (”For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” –James 2:10 KJV)

God looks on the sin of lying the same way He does the sin of homosexuality or adultery or murder.

    your friend,

    Debbie
