Real Devo: Every Rose Has Its Thorns

Rachel Mok, RTF Staff Writer
Every Rose has its Thorns

by Rachel Mok

Just like every rose has its thorns, I have my rough edges as well. Yeah we were “born” with our weaknesses, like they always say you don’t have to teach a baby to do something bad, they just do it. But, why do we always use that as our excuse? Shouldn’t we always strive for the best, aim for perfection? We can’t with our human nature, that’s why we need God! On the other hand, we lack the that faith and trust, so how does that work anyway?

Yeah, so I admit I have emotional weakness that can be easily swayed like the waves in the ocean. So how do I stay sane in all this insanity (as in daydreaming of unrealistic dreams, not that I am mad or anything)? I am often portrayed to be a girl who dreams all day long of her prince charming in a shining armour riding on a white horse to rescue the damsel in distress. Okay, I do have a Prince who saved my life!! Although He didn’t
come in a shining armour and on a white horse, He rode a donkey. That’s cool too! He did not sacrifice His life in the most glamorous way, but His love declared was much more than how the princes in fairy tales do. So who said fairy tales arent real? Hehe…it’s a true story! Believe it or not! That’s up to you!

So yeah, back to the point, I do have my rough edges, weaknesses, sinful nature, whatever you call it, it means the same, but I have a creator who is still moulding and shaping me into a better person each day. So to answer the question of how I keep my sanity - GOD:)

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” 2 Cor 12:9

Thank you for that Suz. I seem to struggle in those areas. It is good to know that he sees in in his perfection, while I struggle to keep seeing me from his point of view.
    Kudos…..

Thanks guys, I hope you were encouraged. I myself struggle with it, but our God is a great GOD:)
