A Look at New York

NY. Ground Zero. Times Square. Empire State Building. I could hardly wait! Blasting car horns echoed sporadically like a broken song. Any space at all was rare. Skyscrapers stood proudly in the distance, gleaming in the light. I could feel the excitement lingering in the air. Up ahead, the Holland Tunnel appeared, leading into America’s famed city. I watched in fascination as hundreds of vehicles pushed their way into the narrow two lane tunnel.
My guide pointed out that the tunnel went underneath the bedrock of the Hudson River. I was amazed that just 93 feet above my head flowed several millions of gallons of water. Only one crack could spell my end. Just one leak or a faulty construction would engulf me in a roar of waves. And yet, I was safe, sheltered within the confines of the tunnel’s walls.
Like the Holland Tunnel, we are also sheltered from life’s ever-flowing problems in the “bedrock” of God’s protection. God is our rock, and our refuge (Psalms 62:7). When you are sheltered by the Rock, you are safe within His hands.
