Comfort In The Midst Of Chaos
by Ashley Phillips
Have you ever noticed how the world all around you seems to be telling you that the only way to find rest, is to blow everyone off just to sleep a couple of hours? Or to find hope and joy you have to put yourself first? Well, the bible tells us different.
Matthew 11:28 says: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (The Message Bible)
This verse tells us that the only way to find true rest is in Christ. If you walk with him and learn from him, you’ll learn how to be well rested every day. There is also a promise found in this verse… “You’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” The More time you spend watching and learning from God, the more you’ll learn how to live in freedom and light.
Romans 15:13 says: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (the NIV)
This Verse tells us that true hope, joy, and peace come from god only. There is no other way to be truly at peace, filled with joy or hope except to fin it in God. There are also some key words in this verse—As you trust him. All these things will come to you, as you trust him and learn to trust the Holy Spirit.
Last, but not least is what Psalm 9:10 says.
“God’s a safe-house for the battered, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment you arrive, you relax; you’re never sorry you knocked.” (The Message Bible)
This verse basically says that any one who comes to God is going to rest in safety, love, peace, joy, and security. He will be a sanctuary in your bad times, and a sanctuary in your good times. You are safe and loved from the moment you arrive, and you’ll never be sorry that you knocked on God’s door.

But, mostly I love to just spend time with God. To talk with him and listen to the things that He has for His world and His children.
