The Fine Print
by: Jade West
“For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:38-39, KJV

Most Christians live their entire lives waiting for “the fine print”. There’s got to be a line somewhere in the Bible that says: If you fail to tithe or attend church faithfully, then Jesus’ love for you is considered null and void. Or if you make a “big” mistake or commit one sin too many times.
I’d like to tell you that if God said, “Jump, I’ll catch you” that I’d be first in line to jump, but that would be a lie.
Due to legalistic churches, I’ve grown up thinking Jesus’ love was conditional. Like Jesus will love me until I make a mistake so big that He can’t cover it.
I know (in my head) what being loved unconditionally means. Yet I’ve never opened my heart so that I could experience His love.
Well, I’m tired of waiting for the fine print. I want to experience His love. I want to trust. I want to trust God’s love as having no fine print. I want to trust in the promise of Romans 8:38-39.

I totally agree with you! Especially growing up in a Christian family, if I never experienced God for myself, I would have found it hard to believe in Bible stories as I grew older. But God’s unconditional love and grace has never failed me!:)
