Real Missions: Teens Persecuted for Faith

Most of the time when we hear the word “persecution” we think of people mocking our faith or making life uncomfortable because they don’t agree with your views.

That’s not persecution in the truest sense. These are up-to-the-minute stories about real teens around the world who are giving all to call themselves believers.

A veteran of more than 100 missions into North Korea to provide ministry to Christians and non-Christians alike says the first thing to do in any meeting there is to close and cover all the windows and send the children outside.

The description of the persecution under which North Korean Christians suffer comes from “Roli,” whose story was reported by The Voice of the Martyrs, a worldwide ministry that directs its aid to members of the persecuted Christian church.

That organization earlier reported on the faith of a teen-ager who was caught teaching about Christ, and died in a North Korean prison camp to leave behind a witness that continues there even today. It also reported on the stunning change in a prison warden who watched that teen’s final days and sought out what made the teen strong.

Christian Teen Beheaded

The Assyrian International News Agency informed media feeds that the 14-year-old Christian, Ayad Tariq, from Baqouba, Iraq, was killed while employed at his 12-hour work shift.

Tariq oversaw an electric generator operation. While on shift, “a group of disguised Muslim insurgents walked in at the beginning of his shift shortly after 6 a.m. and asked him for his ID.”
“According to another employee who witnessed the events, and who hid when he saw insurgents approach, the insurgents questions Ayad after seeing that his ID noted he was a ‘Christian.’ The insurgents asked the boy if he was really a ‘Christian sinner.’”

Let’s get real, teens. It’s likely that you or I have never been asked to sacrifice our lives. Will you pray with RTF today and ask God to open our hearts to what really matters as followers of Christ? Let’s pray for teens and their families in countries where Christianity is a choice that carries a heavy penalty.
