An article in the Rockford Register Star quoted a group of teens who wanted to give a heads up on what is in and what is out.
You just might be surprised at what they said:
What’s out: Ditching school, smoking and drinking.
What’s in: Working on community service projects, attending drug-free concerts and doing what’s right for your future.
How cool is that? It’s not just a group of teens talking smack, but a large community of teens who meet and call themselves the nFactor.
“N” is for “now is the time”.
It’s a youth movement. A revolution of sorts — to get out from under the stereotyped image handed down in this culture.
QUOTE FROM ARTICLE: Shenitra Hyatt, 15, has felt the pressure of negative peer influence. But she said she has resisted the pressures of doing drugs, skipping school and having sex.
This organization and youth movement will show others trying to resist the same pressures that they are not alone and that there are ways to spend their time positively, she said.“nFACTOR is a group of students trying to change the image of youth in Rockford,” Hyatt said. “It’s to bring out the positive and show off kids who are trying to do better in life.”
RTF: What would happen if other teens joined this revolution? What if adults got together and supported it? Hmm. What do you think?
