Real Review: Marked for Life by Crystal Woodman Miller

What marks and defines you?

Your social status?
Your family relationships?
Your career or ministry?
A transforming experience of joy or sorrow?

Some circumstances and events can permanently brand our lives. They are moments that reverberate within our souls and can deepen our character. They are marks of eternal significance.

Crystal Woodman Miller is a young woman whose life was forever changed by the tragic events at Columbine High School in 1999: seven eternal minutes that served as the ultimate wake-up call. And in the aftermath of tragedy, Crystal found herself at a crossroads of fear and faith. Marked for Life is the remarkable story of Crystal’s journey from suffering to healing; a journey filled with defining moments that challenge her to choose hope and faith over bitterness and despair.

Through her “beauty marks” of suffering, Crystal encounters new purpose and identity. She finds a global platform for her extraordinary testimony that gives her the ongoing opportunity to comfort hundreds who have experienced trauma and tragedy and to inspire thousands with a message of hope. Her desire is for us all to discover that we can be marked for life by a redeeming God who brings hope out of the rubble of earth-shattering loss.

FROM RT FAITH:

This book hooked me from the first word. Rather than focus on Columbine or her experiences, Crystal draws the reader into the bullet-marked schoolroom of young children in Russia.

Her description, emotions, and parallel to human sufferings are raw and vivid, and real. Yet she says this:

I have learned that the only thing that could dispel the darkness I had faced was the illuminating light of Christ.

It is this maturity and depth that makes this book a must-read. Want to get outside of yourself, your circumstances, and discover what it means to trust God no matter what? This is the book that can help you do just that.

Five stars all the way *****
