Real Poem: My friend

My Friend by Brooke Gidden

people change
often
I’ve found
friends
they come and they go

there are those you constantly fight with
the ones you constantly laugh with
and then the ones that you do neither with
the ones that are just friends

but then theres a kind of friend
that no matter what the situation is
they are there if you are sad
and you see them you suddenly smile

if you’re mad you smile
this is a true friend
the one that is bright
the one that knows your secrets
the one that stands out in your group of friends

I have a true friend
I tell her my thoughts on the day
I tell her my current state of mind
I tell her which boy I like

I tell her which teacher i hate
I tell her about me
she can sit there in silence and make me laugh
or just sit then and make me smile
and even just be next to me and make me feel
so much better and safe

I feel alive
I feel like nothing has gone wrong
even if my day has been the worst ever
just being next to her makes me forget it all

its amazing
this gift from God
she’s so much like me yet so different
I sometimes can’t really explain myself

I love this friend
Dieu la bénissent

WOW! That’s a great poem! If you can, please tell the writer (Brooke Gidden) that I enjoyed it.

Friends really are SUCH a blessing.

As I read that poem, I kinda smiled to myself because I have one person in my life just like that.

We talk to each other a lot..and we just have an AWESOME friendship.

Thanks for the reminder of that little blessing that I overlook.

    Jade

By the way, there’s this really great site that you might want to add to your links for Christian teens. It’s http://www.teenlight.org ~it’s an amazing ministry!
